Nunhead Arts Week 2008!
Nunhead Arts Week (19-28 September) has something for everyone. Art may be at the heart of it but there’s a lot more besides.
First, the art. Nunhead’s fifth Open Exhibition will show art created by people in the community. Each year, as the number of exhibits has grown so too has the quality.
A highspot of the Arts Week (rather longer than a week!) is the Green Day on Nunhead Green on Saturday, 20 September. This is as close to a village fair in an urban context as you’re ever going to get. Attractions include pedal-powered music from an eclectic bunch of musicians and bands; a pedal-powered blacksmith; workshops in print making and the lost art of apple presses; herbs to take home, and a cake competition. All will vie for attention in this free day on the Green.
Plus, there’s an exciting programme of events throughout the week: dance workshops for young people, a children’s show, comedy, special screening of a film, history walk, writing workshop, line dancing for older people, and much more.
